Mrs. Lydia Martin
Kaleidoscope & Elementary Math Instructor
Mrs. Lydia Martin, a native Pennsylvanian raised in the Texas countryside, is excited to be joining the Bluebonnet community! After a glorious homeschool childhood filled with 4-H, art, baking, sewing, knitting, orchestra, tatting, libraries, and many memories with younger siblings, she graduated from The Honors College at HBU, summa cum laude, with a degree in Piano Performance. She furthered her studies with another Piano Performance degree, this time graduating with a Masters from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. During the course of this work, she also studied abroad in Eisenstadt, Austria and took part in master classes with many esteemed pianists and educators.
Lydia has spent the past seven years teaching a variety of subjects and levels including PreK, math, English, history, music theory and appreciation, choir, and private music lessons in private schools and as an independent piano and violin instructor in the Houston area. She would be hard pressed to tell you her favorite subject. It seems the common thread is just joyfully exploring Beautiful things with young minds!
Lydia and her husband (who is also a teacher) attend Saint Jonah Orthodox Church, where they are members of the choir. They welcomed a darling boy to their family in March of 2022, and are already enjoying a deeper family life together.
