Mr. Mark Vogan
Chess Club Instructor
Bluebonnet’s beloved Chess Club instructor, Mr. Mark Vogan, grew up in Sugar Land and has been playing chess for about 25 years. Mr. Vogan has previously taught chess for eight years at a local homeschool co-op. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Anthropology from Rice University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
Mark married the love of his life, Melissa, in 1999. Together they served overseas in Kazakhstan for two years working with youth before having kids of their own. Mark now works as a Database Developer/Administrator for a Houston-based nonprofit. Mark and Melissa have 10 wonderful children—all homeschooled. In addition to chess, Mark enjoys cycling, ultimate Frisbee, RC toys, hiking, and rock climbing.
