Mrs. Misty Brown
Instructor of Mathematics and Science
Misty Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Houston. She spent many years in the oil and gas industry serving in roles ranging from drafting and mechanical design to quality and structural engineering. During her engineering career, she developed and taught a fabrication design curriculum for engineers, creating coursework that became a global resource within her company. She also contributed to engineering response efforts during the Deepwater Horizon crisis and designed, installed, and tested offshore projects in the Gulf of Mexico.
Misty now brings her love of mathematics, science, and thoughtful instruction into the homeschool classroom. She has homeschooled her sons using Charlotte Mason and classical Christian methods, with a particular appreciation for living ideas, and strong mathematical foundations. She has tutored both public and homeschool students in mathematics, helping students build strong foundational skills and number fluency. She enjoys helping students develop mastery and confidence in math concepts while discovering the order, beauty, and consistency woven into God’s creation.
Women’s discipleship and accountability groups have been a priority for Misty for many years and she serves in children’s ministry and community hospitality through her church. She has also participated in missions and service work in Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil, and Houston-area outreach ministries serving underserved children and families.
Misty has been happily married to her husband and favorite person for many years and is the mother of two active and hilarious sons. In her spare time, she enjoys nano aquarium keeping, baking, building rubber-band and gravity-powered contraptions, and scratching the ears of her sweet elderly dog, Penny.
