Mrs. Katrina Lyons
Instructor of Accelerated Chemistry
Upon graduating from Texas A&M University in 1992, Katrina Lyons began her teaching career in Alief ISD, where she taught a wide range of science courses. Over more than three decades in public education, she served as a science department leader, taught pre-service teachers at the University of Houston, and directed an after-school program—all with a strong focus on improving student learning and helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.
Katrina concluded her public education career in Fort Bend ISD, teaching Chemistry at Kempner High School for her final decade in the classroom. Over the past three years, she has focused on growing a successful Mary Kay business while supporting her husband’s transition from public education to Houston Christian High School, her two sons’ pursuits of their Aggie Corps of Cadets dreams in College Station, and her foster son’s involvement in MCJROTC drill team.
In her free time, Katrina enjoys water fitness, Pilates, ballroom dancing with her husband, makeup and skincare education, Texas and Aggie football, and traveling with her cadets—both high school and college.
Katrina is grateful to teach in a Christian homeschool community. She is passionate about helping students see science as a way to explore God’s creation with wonder, curiosity, and respect—encouraging thoughtful questions, meaningful discovery, and growth in both knowledge and character.
